Phillip J. Allman Dies Here This Afternoon


Phillip J. Allman, 82, 605 Euclid avenue died at 1 o'clock this afternoon in hishome. He had been ill for the past two weeks.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Voss Chapel and at 2 p.m. from Christ Temple Church with the Rev. Dewey Allman pastor, officiating. Burial in Acme Cemetery.

Friends may call at Voss Mortuary after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

A life-long resident of Jackson county, Mr. Allman was born October 18, 1876, in this county, the son of the late Phillip and Sarah Hicks Allman. He was married in 1898 in Brownstown to Ruthie Hendershot, who preceded him in death in 1950, and in 1955 he was remarried at Colombus to Edna Hanson, who survives. He was a retired Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad employe. He was a member of Christ Temple Church in Seymour.

Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Carrie Irving, Elizabethtown R1, Mance Allman, Columbus R8, Mrs. Hazel Allman, Cortland R1, Mrs. Lois Jones, Columbus, Mrs. Grace Johnson, Columbus, Mrs. Eldenna Soladine, Cortland R1 and Otho L. Allman, Seymour; three brothers Mort Allman, Ewing R1, Ezra Allman, Ewing R1, and William Allman, Columbus; two half-sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Kinworthy, Ewing, and Mrs. Tweedie Acton, Freetown; 27 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren.
