Minnie Johnson Lambert, 74, of Amherst died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, in Amherst.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Amherst Church of Christ in Amherst. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield.

Minnie was born Jan. 8, 1939, to Leonard and Ellie Peel in Littlefield. She has been a longtime resident of this area. Minnie took great joy in her role as a mother and grandmother. Her family was truly the focus of her life. She loved organizing family game nights and joining in domino and card games. Her family has many precious memories of these special times together.

Minnie had a special love for and bond with animals of all kinds. When she was camping and fishing, she was always befriending the animals in the native habitat. Minnie was always very particular about her appearance, and gathered a large collection of shoes and clothes Minnie spent the last seven years in Colorado City, Colo., where she and her husband, Robert Lambert, managed an RV campground.

She was preceded in death by a husband, Jimmy Dorman Johnson; a daughter, Lavonne Scroggins; a granddaughter, Heather Lavonne Scroggins; a grandson, Jim Albert Haynes; two brothers, Glendon Peel and Homer Peel; and two sisters, Edna Cook and Lula Gainer.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Lambert of Colorado City; a son, Jim Johnson; a daughter, Lanita Silman; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Peel and wife Pearl of Littlefield and Joe Peel of Detroit; and a sister, Billie Greene of Missoula, Mont.

The family suggests memorials be made to Legacy of Love Hospice, P.O. Box 1308, Littlefield, TX 79339.
