Cecil D. Achey, 85, Rossville

Cecil D. Achey of Rossville died on a beautiful sunny Tuesday morning, April 17, 2007 at his residence. He was 85.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and was of the Church of God faith. He was a member and past Master of the Rossville Masonic Lodge No. 397 F&AM where he also served as chaplain for many years. He was a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of the Chattanooga Consistory, the Scottish Rite Society, and the Alhambra Shrine Temple where he raised money for the Children's Hospital. He was also a member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia F&AM, past Grand Commander of the Knights Templar of Georgia, and a master shooter with the NRA. He retired as a foreman from Combustion Engineering after 40 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Thelma Marie Pierce Achey; father, Allen Obe Achey; mother, Ethel B. Krause Achey; brother, Allen Obe Achey Jr., U.S. Navy, who was killed in action during World War II; sister, Betty June Achey; baby sister, Myrtle Irene Achey.

Survivors include his daughter, Kay Achey of Rossville; sister, Jane Achey Davison; brother-in-law, Gene Davison of Arlington, Va.; brother-in-law, Edward Pierce of Dunlap, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Betty Joyce Pierce Hamlin of Dalton.

Services: Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lewis Stover officiating. Burial: Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. T. Daniel Wade, Charles H. Wade II, David Jackson, Edward Pierce, Edward Lee Pierce and Phillip Dial will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Fort Oglethorpe. Visitation: Friday, April 20, from 2-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Fort Oglethorpe.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospitals, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fla., 336087-1460. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
