He was born in Texas ~ probably in Angelina County as his parents appear on the 1850 Angelina County, Texas census records.
He married first to Mary Hampton and had one daughter. He and Mary divorced. William then married Martha Elizabeth Smith. They had 9 children with 6 living to adulthood.
Martha and William divorced and Martha married a man named John Neal. They had no children.
When Martha died the Neal children refused to allow her to be buried in the Neal plot. Martha's children said if she could not be buried in the Neal plot then she would be buried under the Lang name.
(The above information was told to me by Martha's son and my uncle, William Elmer Lang)
