Adele Bryant Chitty, 73, of the 800 block of Colony Ave., a retired bookkeeper, died Jan. 4, 1995, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital. Mrs. Chitty was born in Bertie County and was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church, Roxobel. She was retired from Belk Tyler Co. after 37 years. Survivors include her husband, Earl Chitty; a daughter, Joyce C. Harrell of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, William Bryant of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Garrett Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert May. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
