She was born May 4, 1919, in Charleston, W.Va., the daughter of Levi A. and Mary A. Godby Carnes.
She retired after 28 years at the Wooster Brush Co. as a machine operator, and had previously worked for 10 years at the downtown Woolworth store.
She was a member of West Hill Baptist Church, was active in water exercise and enjoyed painting, reading, doing for others, cooking and going to garage sales.
Surviving are children Helen (Ken) Walkerly of Wooster, Nancy Jackson of Uhrichsville, and Sarah (Dennis) Traxler of Columbia City, Ind.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Maxine Crabtree of Wooster; and stepchildren Ronnie (Fran) Crabtree of Wooster, Pat (Brady) Pursley of Akron and Glenda Higgins of Garfield, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Crabtree on Aug. 8, 1988; a granddaughter, Jeanna Jackson; stepchildren Charles and Damon Crabtree; her parents; sisters Martha Cummings, Grace Willard and Virginia Lehman; and brothers Enos, Ben, Herb and Eugene Carnes.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home or Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.mcintirebradhamsleek.com.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
