LaVar and Virginia first lived on a ranch in Marysville, Utah where he worked with his father and brothers for a few years. LaVar farmed and worked for the Millard County road department. He later became employed with the W. W. Clyde Construction Company. In 1958 the Andersons moved to Orem where they built a home and LaVar became employed by Geneva Rock Products. He retired from GRP in 1972 and moved to Nephi where they built a new home and resided until his death.
