Ladd Boardman is my maternal grandfather. My mother, Sandra Jo Boardman Palm, is the only child of his first marriage to Ida Mae "Impy" Pickering. As such we have many half- and step-relatives on my mother's side of the family. Our tree actually has three fully developed pairs of grandparents right out of the gate! I'm the amateur genealogist for the Palm side (our dad). My sister Sherrod Palm Shiveley is the Boardman expert - and she gets hazard pay.

We miss you, grandpa. You taught me so much more than I ever knew.

Ladd's granddaughter Dr. Sherrod Palm Shiveley in a 2012 Christmas photo. Ladd would have been immensely proud of Sherrod, Sandra Jo's eldest. She lives in the Olympia area with her husband, Dr. Matthew J Shiveley, and two sons Thomas and John.
