Statesboro, Ga. - Mrs. Evelyn Byrd Mock Wilkins, age 84, died Thursday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. The Savannah, Ga. native was a 1947 graduate of Georgia Teacher's College High School. Following her graduation from high school, she married Emory Mock and they had a son, Rick, their marriage ended in divorce. She was employed as a nurse at the Bulloch County Hospital until moving to Atlanta in 1952. While living in Atlanta, she met and married Mack McGriff, they traveled throughout the United States with his military career for several years, moving to Augusta in 1966. In 1980, she moved to Statesboro to be near her family. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her pets and watching television.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, two grandsons, a granddaughter, eight great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, and nieces.
Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve Darby officiating.
Interment will be in the Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rick Mock, Clay Mock, Justin Mock, Ben Moore, Emilio Quinterio and Stephen Fountain.
