News of the death of Jack R. Medlin, 38, former editor of the Phillips "66" News at Phillips was received at the Daily Herald office yesterday afternoon from Gladewater.
Medlin, who was mechanical superintendent of the Gladewater Daily Times Tribune and Weekly News since last fall, died yesterday morning of pneumonia after three days' serious illness.
From Phillips Medlin went to Gladewater and was widely known in West Texas, where he had worked at the printing trade for years at McCamey and other points. He also edited the Bienville Democrat at Arcadia, La., four years.
Survivors include his widow, Jessie B. Medlin, formerly of Midland, a daughter, Eddie Joe, a sister, Mrs. Claude Councill of Detroit, Texas, and others.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at Everett and Welch chapel in Gladewater. Interment will be in the Rosedale cemetery in that city.
