James B. Adams, 80, of Waldorf died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at his home in Freedom Township, two days after his 80th birthday.
James Bernard was born on July 23, 1933, to Timothy and Mary (Mathews) Adams in Freedom Township, Waseca County. On Nov. 8, 1955, he entered the United States Army and served his country until his honorable discharge on Aug. 19, 1957. On Dec. 27, 1991, he was united in marriage to Doris J. VerHey at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waldorf.
He is survived by sisters, Evelyn Devine of Watertown, S.D., and Mary Meurer of Mankato; brother, Donald Adams of Rapid City, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris on May 23, 2013; sister, Eileen Atchley; brothers. John, Raymond and Ambrose Adams.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waldorf, with the Rev. Peter Klein, celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in the St. Joseph's Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waldorf and one hour prior to services on Monday. There will be a 7 p.m. Rosary recited Sunday evening.
