Christine, as she was known as an adult, was the daughter of John B. DeLay & his 1st wife, Alice Ingram. According to an application filed by her father, Christine is 1/16 Cherokee through her mother. Note that although Christine's gravestone shows she was born in 1901, the 1900 census indicates she was born in Sep 1897.


She married Guy Blake Hedrick on 25 Jul 1923 in Durant, Bryan Co., OK.


Christine's obituary in the 23 Feb 1952 Tulsa Daily World states that she died in a Tulsa hospital. It mentions she was a life-long resident of Mayes Co. "Survivors, in addition to the widower, include a daughter, Mrs. Thomas R. Harrison, 1345 E. 45th st.; a son Cpl. Guy Blake Hedrick Jr., stationed at Randolph Field, San Antonio, Tex.; a granddaughter, Carolan [sic - that spelling] Harrison, seven sisters and two brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Louise Devine of 1020 N. Valdalia ave.; Miss Bethel DeLay and Miss Ethel DeLay, both of 1430 S. Cheyenne ave.; Miss Grace DeLay of Ramona, Mrs. Marie Blount of Ardmore, Mrs. Virginia Lawson of El Centro, Calif., and Mrs. Gladys Stamper, also of California. The brothers are W. M. DeLay of Kowa, Kans., and Pua DeLay of California."


Her obituary in the Pryor Jeffersonian includes that she graduated from Pryor High School and from Durant Teachers College. She taught at Woodville and later in Pryor.
