Pettit, Margaret Ellsworth, wife of Ethan Pettit, was born April 15, 1815, at Hempstead, Queens Co., NY, the daughter of Lawrence Ellsworth and Elizabeth Picket. She became the wife of Ethan Pettit in 1835, bore her husband five children and came with him to Utah in 1848. About the year 1870 she made a trip back to New York and lived there with her mother till her mother's death, after which she returned to Utah. She died Oct. 9, 1894, at the old homestead at North Point.
