Charles Laba, Jr.

Resident of Redwood City

Charles Laba Jr. passed away on 7-10-13. Born to Vassili and Maria Laba on 3-12-26 in Hiller PA. He is survived by his wife, of 58 years, his two sons, a daughter, a granddaughter and a goddaughter.

After high school graduation he served in World War II in the Third Division of the USMC and was a survivor of Iwo Jima.

After the war he worked at the U.S. Post Office and then United Airlines for 39 years as a lead sheet metal mechanic at SFO.

He was a member of UAL Retirees, International Assoc. of Machinists, SIRS #16, Alpineers Ski Club, MPP Church and the Russian Orthodox Church. His hobbies were a 1975 Corvette, gardening, orchids, photography, USMC memorabilia, skiing, deep sea fishing, Russian music, folk dancing and he was a rockhound. He was predeceased by his brothers John, Peter, George, Michael and his sisters Helen, Sophia and Isabelle. Services will be held July 18th , 11 a.m., at the Nativity of the Holy Virgin Trinity Church, 1220 Crane St, Menlo Park, CA.
