JOHN A. ABNET
PONTIAC - John A. Abnet, 856, died at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Livingston County Home after being seriously ill for one month.

He was taken to the Behrendt Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday by the Rev. C. C. Brown, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Pontiac. Burial will be in Pontiac Southside Cemetery.

Mr. Abnet was born Sept. 4, 1867, in Wabash County, Ind. a son of Henry and Lavinia McDonald Abnet. Her moved to Fairbury when young, where he was educated and where he remained for 19 years before moving to Pontiac. He worked as a conductor for the Illinois Traction Line and was a retired Pontiac city policeman.

He married Ada Bowen, June 29, 1897 in Pontiac. She died in 1952.

He is survived by three nephews and five nieces. All brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Abnet was a member of Pontiac Chapter, Independent Order of Oddfellows for over 30 years, and was a member of the First Methodist Church.
