DEATH OF HENRY ABNET
Henry Abnet, a resident of Pontiac, formerly this city for some years, after an illness of about nine weeks, died at the home of his son, M. H. Abnet, on East Madison Street, this morning at the age of 75 years past. The funeral will be held Friday at 2 o'clock p.m. from the Methodist church.
Interment will be in the Pontiac cemetery.

Henry Abnet was born in Frederick County, Virginia, March 3, 1826. In boyhood he moved with his father to Ohio and from thence to Indiana in which latter state he grew to manhood and pursued the occupation of farming. In 1848 he was married to Miss Lavina McDonald and to this union nine children were born, eight of whom are still living.

Mr. Abnet and family moved to Illinois settling first in Peoria County, then came to this county in 1872 settling first near Chenoa, thence to Fairbury. Twelve years ago he moved to Pontiac where he has since resided, having engaged in merchandising until a few years ago. He was a man of industry and good habits, an excellent citizen, a member of the Methodist church at the time of his death and had been since early life. His wife preceded him to the better land last December.

Children surviving are three daughters and four sons, as follows: Mrs. Mary Cottingham living in Eppards Point township; Mrs. Emma C. Bromley, of Pontiac, and Mrs. Jennie McDowell, of Mena, Arkansas; Marion H. and John of Pontiac; Perry and Martin, of Helena, Montana, and Cassius, of Pettigrew, Arkansas
