Carlton S. 'Buck' Rodgers
Carlton S. "Buck" Rodgers, 70, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1993, at his residence near Gordonville.
He was born July 13, 1923, near Bernie, Mo., son of Sam and Irene Stephens Rodgers.
He married Opal Howell, Dec. 30, 1941, at Bernie.
Rodgers was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Cape Girardeau.
He had been employed of the MFA in Bernie for four years, before being hired as the manager of the MFA in Jackson, where he worked for 13 years, before retiring in 1969.
Rodgers was an active Little League baseball manager in Jackson for several years. He played American Legion baseball for 40 years, for teams in Dexter and Jackson.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John Rodgers of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Marilyn Chapman of Advance; two brothers, Bobby Rodgers of Bernie, Orville Rodgers Jr. of Jackson; two sisters, Wilma Tripplett of Ellsinore, Mo., Glenda Allen of Bernie; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Bill Burke officiating.
Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
