Leo was the daughter of Harvey E., and Nellie M. Newkirk Cole. She worked as a laborer, and lived at 9270 N. 300 W., Fountaintown, Indiana. She was widowed at the time of her death.

Leo Pauline Gulley, 96, of Fountaintown, IN, formerly of Lawrenceburg, IN, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Fountaintown, IN.

She was born Thursday, May 25, 1916 in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Harvey E. Cole and the late Nellie M. Newkirk Cole.

Leo worked for Seagram's Distillery, retiring after over 30 years of service and also worked at Thatcher Glass Mfg.

She was a longtime member of Beecher Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon and Elder. She was a faithful servant and was willing to help in any capacity, wherever she was needed. She was a member of Seagram's Retiree Club. Leo was known for her great cooking (especially pies) and hospitality. She enjoyed gardening, canning and knitting afghans. Leo loved to be with people. Her faith and her family were of greatest importance to her. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are daughter, Vivian (Jim) Sturgeon of New Palestine, Fairview, IN; grandchildren: Allison (David) Pico, Eric (Nancy) Gulley, Kelly (Ryan) Rogers, Col. James G. (Diana) Sturgeon, Anndi (Tim) Maguire, and Jayanna (Phillip) Slayten; 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Harry Gulley (2008), son, Vernon I. Gulley (1982) and granddaughter, Shawn Marie Sturgeon Knutson (2012).

Friends will be received 12 noon to 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Beecher Presbyterian Church, 229 Short, Lawrenceburg, IN 47025.

Services will be held at the Church, Friday, at 2 p.m. immediately following visitation, with Rev. David M. Patterson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, IN 47001.
