Hazel A. Cole Wiley, 93, of Boonville, a former resident of Aberdeen, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Woodmont Health Campus in Boonville.
She was born Feb. 11, 1908, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Harvey E. and Nellie M. Newkirk Cole. She lived for many years on her farm near Aberdeen with her husband, and had lived for the past 18 years in Boonville near her son and daughter-in-law. She was a former employee of the old Rising Sun Coat Factory, Jenkins Grocery at Aberdeen and Tomato Factory in Rising Sun, and had retired as an employee of the U.S. Shoe Corp. in Vevay. She was a member of the Aberdeen United Methodist Church and the East Enterprise Homemakers Club.
Surviving are one daughter, Eleanor Aldred of Fort Wayne; one son, Elijah "Snookie" Wiley of Boonville; three brothers, Wilford, Alvin and Emerson Cole, all of Fairview; three sisters, Leo Gulley of Lawrenceburg, Pearl Byram of East Enterprise and Mavis Scudder of Fairview; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Hubert Wiley, on April 1, 1982; one son, Ronald L. Wiley, on Dec. 14, 2000; four brothers, Hilbert, Dilver, Donald and Raymond Cole; and two sisters, Arlena Brown and Golda Hebel.
Services were at 11 a.m. today at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, with burial in the Florence Cemetery.
