Ida Sullivan was born 1857/1859 at Price's Creek in Wayne County, WV. She was the daughter of Lewis P. and Lavina Smith Sullivan. She had several siblings; however, during the Civil War they died. Their father, Lewis P. Sullivan, left the battle at Point Pleasant to travel home but found only Ida still alive and returned to the battlefront. Her parents divorced shortly afterwards. Ida married Jefferson Bud Blankenship 30 December 1875 in Wayne County, WV. They had four daughters: Lenora (Nora), Evalena, Almeda, and Ida. Lenora married George Morris and Ida married William S. Crawford. Ida died between 12 December 1881 (the birth of her daughter Ida) and 22 May 1887 (the date of Jefferson's second marriage). Ida Sullivan Blankenship was originally buried in the Sam Blankenship Cemetery; however, this cemetery was moved to Bowen when the Beech Fork Dam was built.
