George Timlin Conaway Sr., 91, died after a long illness on Feb. 1, 2005, in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Conaway had lived in Blue Bell for 41 years at St. Mary's Manor in Lansdale until 1998 and in West Chester until February 2003 when he moved to Tampa. Born Nov. 27, 1913, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John Francis Sr. and Anna (McGrath) Conaway. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Ada Hunley Conaway; two sisters, Anne Marie Yerkes and Elizabeth Lee; and seven brothers, John Francis Jr., Eugene, Walter, Robert, Charles, Edward and Vincent. Surviving are his son, G. Timlin Conaway Jr. of West Chester; two daughters, Georgeanne Muia and Gail Kilmartin of Tampa, Fla.; daughter in-law, Carol Winter Conaway; two sons-in law, James Muia and Thomas Kilmartin; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Genevieve Conaway Smith, age 96, currently of Philadelphia.
Mr. Conaway worked for Henkels & McCoy Electrical Contractors, first in Germantown and then in Blue Bell for almost 50 years. He was a long-time member of St. Helena's Church in Blue Bell and was one of the founders of the Montgomery County Horse Show, which is held annually on the church grounds. He was the oldest living member of the Santa Maria Council of the Knights of Columbus and the IBEW Local 126.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 9, from 7 to 9 P.M. at Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home, 200 W. Germantown Pike, Norristown and again on Thursday from 8:15 to 9:15 A.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Thursday, Feb. 10, at St. Helena Catholic Church, Blue Bell. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Life Path Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, Florida 33609 or online at www.lifepath-hospice.org.
