His social security application and claims index and WWI draft registration show his birth date as Dec. 8, 1874, in Los Angeles, California. Since the gravestone shows 1875, I left it as is. He is also on the New York Death Index, 1862-1948, which lists his death as April 2, 1941, in Manhattan, New York. His mother, Adelaide Mellus Hamilton, was a member of a pioneer family in Los Angeles, California. Her father was mayor of Los Angeles in 1860. Submitted by Steve Peacock, #47309391.

"ROBERT HAMILTON DIES

Mrs. Robert Hamilton was called to New
York city Friday by the sudden death of
her husband, Robert Hamilton, who died
of a stroke of paralysis at a city hospital.
Mrs. Hamilton accompanied the body to Vergennes.
The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon, Apr. 6, at the Larrow Funeral
Home, with Rev. Harrison Davis officiating.
The bearers were Messrs. Moses Garrow, Ernest Laramy [sic-Laramie], Bert Tucker
and George Barney. Burial was in the family
lot in Prospect cemetery.
Besides his widow, Mr. Hamilton leaves two children, Gertrude and Shirley, who reside
with their mother at the home of her father, Moses Laramy [sic-Laramie]. Several brothers and sisters live in Los Angeles, Calif."

Robert Tuck Hamilton was the son of Samuel and Adelaida Elena ("Lola") (Mellus) Hamilton. His maternal grandparents were Henry Mellus and Anita (Johnson) [Mellus] Trudel.
