Obituary:
Mrs. Catherine Prough, widow of Jacob Prough, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George W. Acker, 1002 Mifflin street, between 12 and 1 o'clock Sunday night, after an illness of one week. She took her bed on Saturday, Nov. 18th, and on Tuesday rallied so that she was able to be up. The next day she returned to her bed. Mrs. Prough was well known and was a highly respected old lady. She was a consistent member of the Reformed church all her life. She was the daughter of Jacob and Mary Lininger and was born at McConnellstown on Jan. 2nd, 1840. At the time of her death she was aged 76 years, ten months and twenty-five days. She was united in marriage to Jacob Prough on March 14th, 1861, and resided on a farm in Oneida township where they resided for twenty-four years at two intervals. They retired in 1900 and moved to Huntingdon. Mr. Prough died five years ago next January. Since his death, Mrs. Prough has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. G.W. Acker. Mrs. Prough is survived by six sons and three daughters, Mrs. Martha Acker, of Huntingdon; Martin Prough, of Spruce Creek; Mrs. Annie, wife of Watson Dean, David Prough, Mrs. Mary, wife of James S. Steele, William Prough, Benjamin Prough, Jesse A. Prough and Levi Prough, all of Huntingdon. She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, - Martin Lininger, of near Grafton; Levi Lininger and Mrs. Harriet Weber, of Cove, Blair county; Mary, wife of Henry Grove, of Marklesburg; Elizabeth, wife of Dewalt Foust, of Altoona. The funeral was held from the residence of her daughter, 1002 Mifflin street, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30. Services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. D.E. Master, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
