Several from Garfield attended the funeral of Mrs. Emily Gibson in the Douglass settlement the 25th of January. She was an aged woman and a pioneer of '65, and had raised a large and well respected family, all of which survive her save one daughter who died several years ago. All her living children, save one son, were present at her bedside to see her go. She was a kind mother and grandmother, a faithful wife and neighbor, with no enemies and many friends. To know her was to love her for many good old motherly qualities. We are loth to see those good old pioneers go but they are awaiting us on the other shore.
