OGDEN - Joan Yvonne Beachell Claywell, 69, peacefully returned to her Father in Heaven on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Mount Ogden Care Center.
She was born September 29, 1934 in Filer, Idaho to Everette and Catherine E. Phibbs Beachell. She married Garney C. Claywell on December 1, 1951, he preceded her in death in February 1977. She later married Elmer Smith in 1982, he preceded her in death in 1993.
Surviving are her children, LuJuana Lilley, Hanford, CA; Rosalind Martin, Ogden, UT; Garnett Claywell, Hanford, CA; Garney K. Claywell, Clearfield, UT; Michael Claywell, Pittsburg, PA; two stepdaughters, Gaylene Smothers, IL; Lynette Calarino, Farmington, UT.
Joan also had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Donna Perry, CA; two brothers, Dale Beachell, CA; Richard Beachell, Orem, UT. One other brother Bob Beachell, CA preceded her in death. Also surviving an ex-daughter-in-law, Sherry Claywell who was there along with our family those last few days and hours.
Mother was a loving Christian who read God's word daily. She was kind, warm, loving and charitable to all. She loved knitting, crocheting, rock and gem collecting and metal detecting. She also made countless porcelain dolls and had a large collection of them.
Joan was also a military wife for over 20 years and traveled just about everywhere to include three trips to Germany.
We will miss you Mom and our hearts will be heavy with grief. But we know you are at peace and in a better place. Until we meet again.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 12:00 noon at Ft. Douglas, SLC.
Friends may call on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd.
