MRS. REBECCA M. RODGERS VICTIM OF PNEUMONIA

Was 69 Years Old and Had Lived in
County Almost Her Whole Life -Many Relatives


Mrs. Rebecca Margaret Rodgers, 69 years old, a resident of jasper county almost all her entire lifetime and of Carthage for many years, died at her home, 513 Howard street at 3:35 o'clock yesterday afternoon from pneumonia and a complication of diseases.
Mrs. Rodgers was the widow of William Rodgers, who died here 15 years ago. Her maiden name was Ireland. She was born in Hamilton county, Indiana March 17, 1852. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ireland, moved to Cincinnati, Ohio when she was yet an infant and came to Jasper county in 1858, settling on a farm two miles north of Carl Junction,.
Both her father and her grandfather, Abraham Ireland, fought in the Civil War, her father being killed by Indians early in the conflict. The grandfather was a Methodist minister. Her mother's maiden name was Sarah E. Davidson.
Seven children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive.
The children are: George E. Rodgers of Kansas City; J. T. Rodgers of Webb City; Mrs. Eva Blaize of Carthage; Mrs. Mary Head Chitwood; Andrew B. Rodgers of Carthage; Miss Janie Rodgers, of Carthage and Mrs. Margaret Markham of this city.
A brother, John Ireland, resides in Oklahoma.
Two sisters, Mrs. C. L. York of Sarcoxie and Mrs Nora DeMois of Girard, KS., also survive. Mrs. Rodgers reared two of her grandchildren: Miss Clara Blaize of this city and Mrs. X. U. Greer of Nashville, Tennessee.
Mrs. Rodgers was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church. The Rev. O. J. Carder, pastor of that church, will have charge of funeral services, which will be at the residence at 10 o'clock Friday morning. Mrs. Ernest Davis, Miss Frances Cushman and O.. E. Proctor will sing.
Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery, near Reeds [MO] by the body of her husband.

NOTE The family members apparently dropped the 'D' from the spelling of the name and went with the name Rogers rather than Rodgers.
