Katherine Harrison Spradley, 81, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was called to heaven on Monday, July 22, 2013. She passed away quietly surrounded by her loving family. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Friday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Katherine was born in Fort Worth, the sixth of nine children born to James Andrew and Susie Lee Harrison. She grew up in the Riverside area, graduated from Carter-Riverside High School in 1950, and made a career of loving her family. She married Harrell Spradley in 1950, at the age of 18. In 1954, the young couple moved to Hurst, then a very small community, where they raised three daughters. Katherine emphasized the value of a good sense of humor, so spent many happy hours laughing with her sisters and other family members. During their 58 years of marriage, she and Harrell enjoyed traveling around the United States, taking trips to the mountains of Colorado or Tennessee where they would hike and take in the views. She also enjoyed visiting plantations in the South. A most favorite destination was Galveston, where they walked along the beach on Christmas Day for many years. As a young lady, Katherine attended Riverside Trinity Baptist Church where she met and married her husband. After they married, they were faithful members of Valley View Baptist Church, later named Metroplex Baptist, for over 50 years. She opened her home for the services of her church for the last four years. Her life exemplified Christian love and generosity. Katherine loved and enjoyed her family. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making each one feel special. She attended their games, concerts, and high school and college graduations, kept up with their hobbies and interests, and made note of their favorite foods. Her laughter and youthful spirit made her a wonderful "Grammy" and set the mood for holidays and other family gatherings. Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harrell R. Spradley; her parents; brothers and sisters, Lessie Andrews, Frances Talley, James Harrison, John Harrison, Ed Harrison, Betty Howland, and Rose Adamson; and two grandsons, Aaron and Benjamin Daskam. Survivors: Sister, Sue Geer; daughters, Brenda Daskam and husband Jorel, Paula Parsons and husband Charles Brooks, and Christi Quattrochi and husband Phil; grandchildren, Jeremy Parsons and wife Julie, James Parsons and wife Susane, Allison Daskam, Jeff Daskam and wife Kristiana, Brian Daskam and wife Keri, Ashley Quattrochi and fiancé Clayton Stephens, Katie Wardlaw and husband Brock, and Vince Quattrochi; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Isabella Parsons, Cate and Wes Daskam, and Franklin Harrell Parsons; and many nieces and nephews.
