Floyd G. Applegate, 78, Edina, died at 10:15 a.m. Friday (May 25, 1979) in the Knox County Nursing Home where he had resided four years. He formerly lived at Novelty.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, Edina, conducted by Bob Schofield and the Rev. Jim Gilliland. Burial was in Mt. Salem Cemetery near Plevna.
Mr. Applegate was born Aug. 3, 1900, at Plevna, a son of William Bryson and Nancy Ellen Perrigo Applegate. He married Mattie Ellen Vanzant, Nov. 25, 1929, in Shelby County. He was a retired farmer and had lived in the Novelty area most of his life. He was a member of the Novelty Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, a son, William Leon, of Leonard; two brothers, Arland of Philadelphia and Myrl of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
