Samuel Churchill Dies

Samuel Churchill of Armstrong, pioneer Emmet county resident, died at 2:05 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family hospital. Churchill had suffered a heart attack June 5 and was admitted to the hospital. Churchill Rites Will Be Monday

Funeral services for Samuel Churchill will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist church in Armstrong. The Rev. S.E. Polovina will officiate. Burial will be in the Armstrong Grove cemetery.

Churchill, a pioneer Armstrong resident, died Thursday. He had suffered a heart attack June 5.

Churchill was born April 15, 1879 on a farm two and one-quarter miles southeast of Armstrong where his parents Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Churchill had homesteaded in 1872. He resided at Armstrong all of his life working as a tiler, carpenter and farmer.

Survivors include two older brothers, Aura of Armstrong and Harvey of Parsons, Kan., and a step-daughter, Mrs. Merrill Nicoson of Long Beach, Calif. His wife, four sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 18, 1955)
