Wilfred Charles Patrick Haug, age 96, of Winona, MN, died on Sunday, December 2, 2007, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona, MN. Wilfred was born on March 17, 1911, in Baileyville, Kansas, to Edward and Catherine (Dignan) Haug. On September 15, 1959, he married Veronica Dejno at St. Cecilias Chapel in St. Peters Basilica in Vatican City, Rome, Italy. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Winona and also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Neville-Lien Post 1287. Wilfred worked as an airplane inspector and mechanic for the Arabian American Oil Company in Saudi Arabia, and he also worked for Funk Manufacturing in Coffeyville, Kansas. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and loved to talk and share pictures of his worldly experiences. During his retirement he loved to participate in both Navy and ARAMCO reunions. Wilfred is survived by his wife, Veronica of Winona, MN; two children, Annette (Al) Pierzina of Arcadia, WI, and Matthew (Adele) Haug of St. Charles, IL; two grandchildren, Jennifer Tarantino and Alexandra Haug, both of St. Charles, IL; brother-in-law, John (Rosalie) Dejno; several nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theres Haug; his parents; and ten brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 Noon on Thursday, December 6, 2007, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Winona, MN. The Reverend William M. Becker, Monsignor Roy E. Literski, and the Reverend Robert P. Stamschror will concelebrate. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Winona, MN, with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Neville-Lien Post 1287. Friends may call at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, from 5 PM until 7 PM, where the recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 PM. Friends may also call at the Visitation Commons of St. Marys Church on Thursday, December 6, 2007, from 11 AM until the time of the Mass. Pallbearers will be: Gary Haug, Gary Wenger, Robert Wenger, Ken Wenger, Jim Whalen, and Dan Halama. Memorials may be directed to St. Marys Catholic Church, St. Anne Extended Healthcare, or Community Memorial Hospitals Nursing Care.
