WILLIAM THEODORE BARNES, 96, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lena Batt, 115 Elm St., Sunday. He was born and reared near Kemp's Mill, the son of the late Thornton and Mary Catherine Ripple Barnes. Barnes was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses and a retired farmer.

Besides Mrs. Batt, he is survived by daughter, Mrs. Edith Clary, of Hagerstown; brother, Harry O. Barnes, of Fairplay; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
