Patrick Connolly mustered in at age 32 as a Private with Company D of the 69th Pennsylvania Volunteers Infantry, a regiment in the Philadelphia Brigade, at Philadelphia on August 24, 1864. He was wounded at Hatcher's Run, Va., February 5, 1865. He was discharged by General Order, June 12, 1865.
