Homer.--Mrs. J.E. Jones, 71, well known and much beloved woman of Homer, was found dead in her bathroom at 10 o'clock Sunday morning by neighbors, according to a report from Dr. F. Palmer, Claiborne parish coroner, she came to her death as a result of a self-inflicted shot with a .38-caliber pistol, which entered through the mouth and emerged through the back of the head.
The tragedy occurred some time during Saturday night or early Sunday morning as she lived alone in her home and had been in ill health for some time.
Mrs. Jones was formerly Miss Addie Baker, born and reared at Mount Lebanon and a member of a pioneer Bienville parish family, who have been prominently connected in North Louisiana over a period of years.
Surviving are one son, Carter Keith, and his wife of New Iberia, also a large number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from the residence at 10 o'clock Monday morning, Rev. V.L. McKee, pastor of the Baptist church officiating, with burial in Arlington cemetery.
