James Madison Bruce, one of the older sons of Robert Bruce and Susannah Sloan, was born 1811 and died 1883. He married Elizabeth F. Franks 1802-1884, daughter of Meriman Franks. James Madison was baptized 1837 into the Shoal Creek Baptist Church which was then in Franklin County and is now in Hart County. He reared his family in the Gumlog District of Franklin County. There were eleven children including: Charles Bruce, Robert Bruce, Sarah Elizabeth Bruce, Meriman A. Bruce, Eliza E. Bruce, Thomas Benjamin Bruce #74805237 - buried at Hebron Presbyterian Church in Banks Co. Ga., Susan Cassann Bruce, Harriett Meriman Bruce, Mary Catherine Bruce, Rutha P.
