MRS. C.E. GREEN SUMMONED HENCE

Mother of J.B. Allen and Mrs. Woolley Died Yesterday

lived Far Beyond the Allowed Span of Life and Nearly Fifty Years in Yolo County

Mrs. Catherine Emeline Green died at her residence 195 North street yesterday at 10 o'clock after an illness of a few days. For years past she had been in delicate health but was able to attend to he(sic) affairs. Thursday of last week she became subject to dizzy spells which persisted until on Sunday she called a physician. Her condition was found to be due to a stroke of apopolexy(sic) caused by the rupture of a small blood vessel in the head. Monday morning even more alarming symptoms developed. The vital flame flickered and she fell into a helpless condition and became entirely blind and partially deaf. Realizing that the end was not far off the aged lady called for her children before she became unconscious at about 6 o'clock in the evening, in which condition she remained until death.

The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the M.E. church South. Interment will be in the family plot at Knights Landing cemetery at 2 p.m.

Deceased was a native of Kentucky and had she lived until the 24th day of next May would have been 83(sic) years of age. At the age of three years she left Kentucky and moved with her parents to Adrain(sic) county, Missouri. Her maiden name was Catherine Newkirk. She was first married to John B. Allen, who died about six years after their marriage. To them were born two children, John B. Allen, who resides in Woodland with hit mother, and Mrs. M. Darby, who lives in Knights Landing. About five years after the death of her first husband she was married in Mexico, Missouri to O.B. Green. Two years after their marriage they came across the plains with an ox team, requiring six months in the journey. Their first stop was at Big Meadows where they rested for six months. Then they came to Yolo county and first located on the present site of T.F. Laugenour's ranch. They finally settled on the Sutter side of the river about 49 years ago, where Mr. Green engaged extensively in farming and stock raising. Eleven years ago on the 21st day of November, Mr. Green died. Three years later Mrs. Green leased the farm and moved to Woodland, where she has resided ever since.

Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Green; seven of who mare(sic) living as follows: Charles P. Green of Dunningan, Mrs. H. Woolley of Woodland, Reuben Green and Mrs. R.H. Bailey, who live on the river near Knights Landing, Fred Freen(sic) and Mrs. W.E. Gibson of Knights Landing and Mrs. J.J. Bleecker of Red Bluff.

Deceased was kindly, sympathetic Christian. She was a lifelong member of the M.E. church South. Her death will be mourned by her sons and daughters and with their grief will be mingled that of the numerous friends who learned to esteem her during her residence of nearly half a century in their midst.
