Bob Shumate, 78, of Hanson, Okla., passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013, in Sallisaw, Okla. He was born on Aug. 10, 1934, in Brush Creek, Mo., the son of Henry Shumate and Etta Mae (Yancy) Randolph. He married April Valerie Scantling on Jan. 17, 1959, in Heavener, Okla. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a tile setter and of the Baptist faith. Survivors are his wife, April of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Renee and Brent Vanzant of Gaston, Ore., Annette "Eppler" Teague of Hanson and Janna and Patrick Williams of Murrieta, Calif.; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Susie Shumate of Hanson; eight grandchildren, Amber, Trent, C.J., Jacynda, Madison, Wyattt, Kaden and Aughist; one great-grandchild, Kiera; and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenenth Mulligan; and one sister, Marvella Norvell. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Akins Cemetery with Joe and Duane Hunt officiating under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Honorary pallbearers are Clifford Eppler, Jimmy Allen, Tom Tackett, Duane Roy and Myron Lynch.
