Anna was one of six children of James & Margaret [Cotterall] Kennedy.

In 1849 the family left Pennsylvania. They checked out Detroit (which was like a fort) and moved on to Chicago were they stayed briefly before settling in Marshall County, Illinois.

Information about Anna is somewhat limited. The 1850 census for Marshall County shows 8 year old Anna with her family. In 1856 both of her parents died in a diphtheria epidemic. Her Uncle John & Aunt Mary probably cared for the children.

Before 1863 Anna married Thomas Gannon, no record can be found. There is a 26 Jul 1859 marriage record in Will County, (adjacent to Cook County) for a Ann Kennedy and Michael Gannon. Was this Thomas Gannon?

The couple had 3 children:
1. Thomas James, b. 1862 d. bet 1919-1927, Dorothy Frederick, 3 ch
2. Margaret E. 1867-1929, m. 1896 Frank E. Lucas
3. Cecelia, 1867-abt 1955, m. 1892 Martin M. Keeley, 4 ch

In the 1880 Cook County IL census Anna is shown as a widow with her 3 children. They were living next to a John Gannon (age 57) and his family in Lemont, Cook Co, IL. Was John related to the deceased Thomas Gannon?

Anna 2d married a Cavenaugh between 1880-1913.

The next record for Anna is March 1913 when a 70 year old Anna Cavenaugh is living in NE Colorado in Sedgwick. The photo of Anna and her husband was taken by her nephew Thomas Kennedy.

The death year of 1919 is just an estimate based on information in family records.
