Daughter of Charles Schmitt 1849-1913 (immigrant from Germany) & Mary Seitz Schmitt 1847-1932 (born in Pittsburgh, PA.). Josie was born on Sunday, March 11, 1883, in a small community just south of Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky. She is the fourth of five children born to this union.

Josie is a sister to:

Killian Sylvester Schmitt 1878-1919 (Find A Grave Memorial# 96184162).

Mary Elnora 'Nora' Schmitt Wurth 1882-1960 (Find A Grave Memorial# 75367968).

Due to health problems Josie moved to Pheonix, Az. Where she worked as a house mother at Saint Joseph's Hospital.

She passed on Thursday, August 29, at 1946 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Pheonix. She suffered from an acute Myelogenouse Eusinophrilic Luekemia and heart failure with pneumonia.

The informant of her death was Mrs Eleanor "Nora" Wurth, her sister, who was a resident of Route 5, Paducah, McCracken County, KY.

Josie never married.
She was loved by all that knew her.
