Frederick Watts is a native of Garrard County, but moved to Jessamine County in 1836 with his parents, and settled on Jessamine Creek, about three miles southwest of Nicholasville. Frederick Watts was reared on a farm and has farmed all his life. He was married in 1856 to Miss Nancy J., daughter of Asberry and Elizabeth (Shorten) Knight. This lady lived only eleven months. Mr. Watts was next married to Anna Waters, of Jessamine County, June 13, 1859. She was a Daughter of Harvey and Pauline (Owens) Waters. Two children were born to the second marriage: Cordelia, April 14, 1861, and Jason Watts., January 13, 1863. Mrs. Anna Watts died in August, 1864. Mr. Watts' third marriage was to Mrs. Frances (Fain) Stanley of Jessamine County, January 18, 1865. She was a daughter of Larkin and Barbara (Easley) Fain. Her father was born in Jessamine County, and her mother in Rock castle County, Ky. Her father died,October, 1876, and her mother in September, 1843. To Mr. Watts' last marriage have been born 6 children; Henry, October 24, 1866; Annie Leana, January 21, 1870; Mary Bell, October 10, 1873; Andrew Jackson, October 12, 1876; Batie Welch, march 1, 1879, and Welburn Jaspar, November 8, 1881. Mr. Watts' third wife has one child by her first husband, James L. Stanley, born January 24, 1862, married to Essie Lewis, and living in Illinois. Mr. Watts ran a saw mill in 1860 and 1861, but has farmed all his life, and is comfortably situated on the Lexington and Danville Turnpike, five and one-quarter miles from Nicholasville. He and wife, and Cordelia, Annie, Mary and Andrew belong to the Methodist Church.
