William Thomas aka "Tom or WT" Smith
William Thomas Smith was born 29 December 1876 in Bastrop County, Texas.
He was the 3rd child of Mary Tanner and Lewis Spinks Smith.
William Tom was 14 years old when his father Lewis Spinks Smith died.
William Thomas Smith received $6.24 for enlisting in the Spanish American War. He was in Company H, 1st Texas Volunteer Infantry. He was sworn in at Red Rock, Bastrop County, Texas.

Tom Smith married Ann Eliza Mae Willford on 11 April 1904 in Bastrop County, Texas. Ann Eliza Mae Willford's was the daughter of Rebecca Jane Bell and Jonathan Williford.

The following was taken from an article written by Judy Smith Clifton in the book, History of the People of Live Oak County, Texas.
"My father was a constable in Simmons for a number of years.
He was a great hunter, trapper, and fisherman. His brother, Jim "Judge" Smith, who came to Simmons before Tom was a Justice of the Peace. He married Simmons couples.
All the children except Georgia attended the Simmons School.
We traded at the Matkins Store and received our mail at the Post Office there.
We were a family of friendly people and enjoyed walking to visit our neighbors. We worshipped in the Simmons Community Church.

In January 1959, Tom purchased 12 blocks/lots in Simmons, Live Oak County, Texas.

Tom died January 1959. He is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. Section C1-18.
I have not been able to find his death certificate but I have two obits from two different newspapers.
