KEOTA - Zene M. Kempf, 83 years old, of Prescott, AZ, formerly of Keota, went home to be with his Lord June 10, 2003. He died in Prescott, AZ, of lung cancer. Zene was born January 24, 1920 in rural Kalona, Iowa to Milo M. & Delilah Miller Kempf. Easter Sunday 1946 he married Bonny West. Zene, wife Bonny and two sons H. Zene and Terry Rex moved to Prescott in July 1958. Zene M. was an elder in The First Christian Church in Washington, Iowa and Pasadena, California and a charter member of the church here in Prescott. He was a 40 year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 319, a 25 year member of the Local Civil Air Patrol and a 20 year member of the Yavapai Jeep Posse. In the early 60's Zene worked for Yavapai Ready Mix Concrete Co. doing mechanical work on equipment and delivering concrete. Later he worked for the Prescott Unified School District as the bus mechanic and maintaining equipment. Zene enjoyed running the movie projectors at the Elks, Drive - In, and Marina Theaters. Zene loved working on engines and had a natural talent for fixing things. Zene had many hobbies, among them developing B&W film was like magic to him. When his sons were younger he enjoyed being a Cub Scout Master and later in Boy Scouts he helped with numerous projects, hikes, and campouts. After retirement he looked after two local car washes in Prescott. He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Prescott, sons H. Zene Kempf of Washington and Terry R. Kempf of Prescott, AZ. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 16, 2003 in the Keota Cemetery in Keota, Iowa. Rev. Charles Smith will officiate. There will be no visitation. Powell Funeral Home, Keota, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to: California Christian Home, 8417 Mission Dr., Rosemead, CA. 91770 - 1192
