at Toledo, Iowa, on April 5, 1884
and passed away last Monday
evening at Buena Vista hospital
at the age of 79 years, 8 months
and 4 days. With his parents he
moved to Sterling, Ill., where he
grew to manhood and received
his education
He also attended business college
in Sterling. In 1902 he came
to the Storm Lake community
where he took up his lifetime occupation
of farming
In 1919 he was married to May
Elizabeth Whitehead. They set up
housekeeping on a farm 3l/2 miles
north of Storm Lake and that had
been their home ever since His
wife preceded him in death, in
1956.
He is survived by one daughter
Rafa (Mrs. Dean Worthan).
He became a member of the
Storm Lake Church of Christ
while a young man He was a
member of the Masonic and Royal
Arch Lodge for 49 years He was
also a member of the IOOF.
Mr. Shannon enjoyed a number
of hobbies such as photography,
gardening and traveling. He was
a loving father and devoted to his
family He was quiet and reserved,
a good neighbor and deeply
respected in his community, and
will be missed by all who Knew
him.
