Benjamin "Ben" H.M. Lynch was the second son born to James Sidney Lynch and Arie C. Quinn Lynch.

When Ben was young, his parents moved from Estill Co., KY, to northwestern Missouri. He moved to Quincy as a young man.

He married Josephine Arnold on 24 Apr 1889 in Adams Co., IL, and had one son with her, Sidney B. Lynch.

Ben Lynch was a police officer for a number of years in Quincy. Ben died suddenly while at the boat livery in Quincy at the age of 73.
