Lillian (May) Crowell, 72, R.R.1, Batesville, died Sunday evening in the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Mrs. Crowell was born in Ripley County Sept. 15, 1912, the daughter of Rollin and Bessie E. Schwier Hoyer. She was a mother and homemaker, and had assisted her husband in farming.She was married to Monroe Crowell June 7, 1937, and he preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1975. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church and active in all the phases of the church. She is survived by two sons: Faye Crowell, R.R.1, New Palestine, and William Crowell, Seymour; three daughters: Mrs. Jeanette Selke, Indianapolis, Vera Hunteman, Seymour and Mona Underhill, Coral Springs, Colo.; three sisters: Mrs. Grace Hinners, R.R.3, Osgood, Mrs. Elizabeth Bodenburg, Aspers, Pa., and Mrs. Marie Benham, R.R.3, Osgood; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Hoyer, and one grandchild.The services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Carol Holland officiating, and with burial in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon. Friends may call at Nead and Clark Funeral Home in Osgood from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, and at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday.The family suggests that memorial go to the May Crowell Memorial.--Greensburg Daily News (Indiana)--Tuesday, June 4, 1985
