Aaron Cortez
Mass of Christian Burial was read Thursday at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church in Florence for Aaron Cortez, a retired farmer who lived in Florence.
Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery with Holt and Wilson Almont Mortuary handling arrangements.
Mr. Cortez died Thursday in a Canon City hospital. He was born in Turkey Creek Aug. 19, 1898.
He is survived by three sons, Ben and Toby Cortez of Fort Collins and John Cortez of Florence; two daughters, Mary Smith of Florence and Ida Villeareal of Windsor; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cortez's wife, Mrs. Lucinda Medina Cortez, preceded him in death.
Benedictine Fathers celebrated the Mass and also recited the Rosary for Mr. Cortez on Wednesday in St. Benedict's Church.
