William Colonel Anderson, retired attorney and Jackson County Clerk and Master from 1949 until 1971, passed away Monday, February 7, 1994 in the Cookeville General Hospital. He was 83.
In addition to his 55 years of law practice, Mr. Anderson was a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau, the Order of the Eastern Star, 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Cookeville First United Methodist Church.
He was also a member of the Jackson County Bar Association, and served as attorney for the Corps of Engineers during the construction of Center Hill and Dale Hollow Dams.
He was a graduate of the Cumberland University Law School.
Funeral services are scheduled for today, Wednesday, February 9, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home with Rev. Lexie Freeman, Rev. Tom Smith and Rev. Randall Gainus officiating. Interment will be in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in Gainesboro.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Doyene Lee Anderson of Cookeville; one daughter, Patsy Anderson Crevensten of Bellevue, Michigan; one son, Billy Earl Anderson of Sparta; one brother, Phillip J. Anderson, Jr. of California; three grandchildren, Henry and Nathan Crevensten , and Natalee Marie Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Class, Men's Brotherhood Class and the Jackson County Bar Association.
Serving as active pallbearers will be John, Douglas and James Anderson, Drue Huffines, Danny Ray Forkum and Larry Spivey.
Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund at the First United Methodist Church of Cookeville and the Charles Ralph Holland Memorial Library in Gainesboro.
