Obituary
Dennis Maxwell Gilbert, 89, of Prairie City died of pneumonia Saturday at Clearview Manor. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 2pm today at Prairie City Christian Church in Prairie City. Burial of the cremains will be at Waveland Cemetery.
Mr. Gilbert was born in Prairie City and had lived in Donna, Texas, before returning to Prairie City. He had farmed in Prairie City, Farrar and Lime Springs before retiring. He enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by two sons, Charles of Houston and Dennis of Collins; two daughters, Martha Hobbie of Brookings, S.D. and Susan Gilbert of Moore, Okla.; two brothers, Clarence of Runnells and Marvin of Prairie City; two sisters, Janice Moss of Iowa City and Hilma Duffy of Mallard; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen.
