A close relative related: "Dorothy was living a very happy life only to have it shatterted on Thanksgiving, November 28, 1912, when she was only eight years old, by coming home from a fun time of sledding with friends to witness the deceased body of her mother being removed from their house through the front window, in an undertaker's casket. Her life would never be the same. In 1914, she was baptized at St. Francis Da Sales Church, Philadelphia. Her sponsors were Patrick Forsythe and Etta Forsythe. Not long after the family moved to Lansdowne, PA, around 1919, she left home to live with a friend until she could afford a place of her own. Dorothy spent her last bit of time with her sister Isabelle's daughter Roberta Louise "Bobby Lou Hartman."
