Ruth Addie Lee (Reichelt) Whiddon was born in Buna, Texas, on January 24, 1917. She passed away on May 16, 2013, in Grindswood, Texas.

She graduated from Buna High School where she enjoyed playing on the girls basketball team.

After graduation, Ruth moved to Port Arthur and worked at a drive-in restaurant, where she met her late husband of 48 years, by spilling a drink on him.
