She graduated from Buna High School where she enjoyed playing on the girls basketball team.
After graduation, Ruth moved to Port Arthur and worked at a drive-in restaurant, where she met her late husband of 48 years, by spilling a drink on him.
When they started their family, Ruth became a homemaker, taking care of her children, then her grandchildren.
Ruth was an amazing example of Christ's love who believed strongly in the power of prayer.
Countless friends will grieve her loss with her family as Ruth was the friend who once you met her, she became a life long friend.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Bennett Whiddon; siblings; grandson, Randy; and daughter, Sandi Fife
She is survived by her sister, Polly Carter; her children, Charles Whiddon and Pam Rattle; several nieces and nephews, her grandchildren: Cynthia Simpson, Kevin Simpson, Christy Whiddon, Charlie Whiddon, Lori, Dawn and Kerri; great-grandchildren: RJ, Courtney, Meghan, Alex, Hunter, Rose, Katilyn, Ciera, Pheonix and Valor.
