After her husband died at the end of 1906, she turned their Eufaula, AL home into a boarding house where my grandmother, Grace BUSH Balkcom (who would later meet & marry Annie's brother, Thomas Norwood Balkcom Sr.) resided. Grace BUSH had moved from Gallatin, Sumner Co., TN to work as a milliner (hat maker) at a Eufaula millinery shop c. 1908.
